Wonder Tower Power! ACTIVATE!

Solar lights, a quick, easy and inexpensive gift idea.
This is such a cute and very easy gift to make.

Difficulty: Easy
Materials you'll need:
1) any pleasing-to-the-eye glassware* (heavier is better) with some transparent or translucent areas
2) waterproof silicon glue (or epoxy) for bonding pieces together
3) the cheapest solar light you can find - you'll be dismantling it and discarding all but the solar plate and the bulb so don't bother getting a cute one  ($3 most anywhere)
4) a clean, non-porous, throw-away surface to mix the epoxy (such as a plastic lid from yogurt) and a stirring stick (a Popsicle stick works well)

*Note: Keep in mind that painted glass will most likely weather poorly and look bad fairly quickly, so choose pieces that are actually coloured glass if you intend to store outdoors.

Choose a pretty piece of glass. This is a mosaic glass vase.

Begin by thoroughly cleaning your glassware and remove the small tab which protects the batteries from use while being stored.

Next, mix up a small amount of the epoxy.

This small pack of epoxy mixed up about a stick of gum worth which was enough to bond two lamps.

Apply the epoxy on the upper edge  of the glass where the vase makes contact with the lamp.
Apply the epoxy along the edge.

Don't bother to be ultra neat when applying the epoxy; this is for the garden and no one will be examining it.

The sloppy epoxy application will barely show.
Set aside to dry for 24 hours, or as directed on epoxy packaging.

 Enjoy your new lamps!
